Chinese automaker BYD has reached an agreement
with taxi company Greentomatocars to provide London with its first fleet of all-electric cabs. London Mayor Boris Johnson voiced his approval of the deal, saying that the move is a step forward to the goal of a zero-emission taxi fleet in the UK capital by 2020.
Greentomatocars expects to have the electric cabs in service by mid-2013. The model chosen is the e6, which delivers around 100 horsepower and has a single-charge range of up to 186 miles.
